City Prepares Humanitarian Aid for Disaster Victims in Sumatra

Jakarta Provincial Government prepares assistance for the calamity victims in North Sumatera, West Sumatera, and Aceh.

Head of Handling and Operation Sub-group for Jakarta Regional Disaster Handling, M. Thaoufiq said the humanitarian assistance prepared consists of emergency logistics. This is the first phase of assistance sent by his ranks.

"We entrusted the distribution process to the Naval Regional Command III to be distributed to disaster victims in Sumatra. We'll leave the technical details and distribution locations up to them," he said, Saturday (11/29).

He explained that the assistance is on standby at the BPDB Logistics Warehouse in Cipayung. The assistance to be distributed includes 1,000 clothing packages, 1,000 kid's items, and 1,000 boxes of mineral water.

Moreover, Jakarta BPBD is also consolidating assistance in the form of family kits for delivery. Other forms of assistance are still being coordinated with the Jakarta Regional Cooperation Bureau (KSD) to coordinate with companies and other parties interested in participating.

"We've already packed the first phase. Departure and handover to the Naval Regional Command III will take place today. We're awaiting instructions on whether the handover will take place directly at Tanjung Priok Port or at their headquarters," he explained.
